NAT Types

As an i Need broadband home customer, you do not have an individual static IP address, you use a shared global public IP, this means that any request to open port numbers on your router to help with nat types will not work.

NAT Types
Open
Medium or Moderate
Strict

Lagging in games, can be caused by your wifi connection, always try and use a Ethernet cable direct to the router, or powerline plugs that are on a good mains cable supply.
Lagging can also be caused by over loaded gaming servers.

Do not trust your gaming platforms speedtest site or ping results, as most gaming platforms are hosted in the USA not the uk.

WE WILL ONLY LOOK AT ISSUE WHERE YOUR HAVE TESTED ON LAPTOP PLUGGED DIRECT INTO YOUR ROUTERS ETHERNET PORT

Network Address Translation (NAT) is the ability of a router to translate a public IP address to a private IP address and vice versa. It adds security to the network by keeping the private IP addresses hidden from the outside world.

Gaming consoles such as Xbox®, PlayStation®, and Wii™ often encounter NAT related issues resulting to poor gaming experience.

In gaming consoles, there are three (3) NAT types to describe your connectivity to other players over the Internet:

Open NAT - This means that your gaming console has the ability to connect to anyone’s games, host games, and other users will be able to find and connect to the game you are hosting.

Moderate NAT - This means that your connectivity to other players is neither limited nor open. You will be able to connect to other players.

Strict NAT - This means that you have limited connectivity with other players and players who have Strict or Moderate NAT will not be able to join your gaming session.

If your issue is Lag then we are unable to assist any further, we have given high priory for all gaming ports to internet, but gaming server worldwide are under massive load not to say that all back-hauls around the world and internet exchanges at this current time.

To test your lag and speeds do not trust the gaming server platform tests these will vary due the server loads.

You can run ping test on pc to googles dns servers 8.8.8.8 , to find out how to run a ping test please google how to run a ping test. to run a speed test please use a browser and use www.openspeedtest.com
