TP-Link HX220 Mesh

If you've reset your router, follow the steps below to get back online.

Connecting by Wi-Fi? Use the Wi-Fi name and password printed on the base of the router. If your device says "no internet", choose Continue anyway. Some Apple devices won't proceed past this point — if that happens, use a non-Apple device, or connect a laptop by cable to the router's LAN port instead.

Getting Online

  1. Unplug the WAN/Internet cable from the HX220, then power it off and back on.
  2. Visit tplinkwifi.net (or 192.168.88.1).
  3. Create a new admin password (for example, admin123).
  4. Follow the on-screen Quick Setup steps.
  5. Select UK as your region.
  6. Select Internet Router mode, connection type PPPoE, VLAN off — the router will reboot.
  7. Enter your PPPoE username and password from your welcome email, then click Next. Do not enable VLAN.
  8. Set your Wi-Fi network name and password (or leave as default). The router will test the connection — save your settings once it succeeds.

Adding An Extra Mesh Unit

Add more HX220 or EX230V units to your existing mesh network in a few simple steps. Before you start, make sure your main router is already online, and the new unit is powered on nearby.

  1. Unbox the new HX220 and plug it in. Wait for the light to start blinking (white or blue).
  2. Connect a computer or phone to your main router's Wi-Fi.
  3. Open a browser and go to 192.168.88.1 (HX220) or 192.168.0.1 (EX230V). Log in with your admin username and password.
  4. In the control panel, find EasyMesh settings — usually under Wireless or Network.
  5. Click to add a new EasyMesh node — the main router will search for the new unit.
  6. Make sure the new unit is on and blinking. The main router will find and connect it — follow any on-screen prompts.
  7. Once connected, the new unit's light will turn solid instead of blinking.
  8. Move the new unit to where you need better coverage, keeping it within range of the main router or another mesh unit.
  9. Check the connection with a device near the new unit.
  10. Log back into the main router's control panel to confirm the new unit shows as connected.
